INTERNATIONAL YOUTH SPORTS FESTIVAL 2008

SCHORNDORF 22 -25 MAY

Congratulations to Dave Cahill

This event is arranged through the “twin town” agreement between Bury and Schorndorf, Germany. Also involved were teams from Dueville in Italy, Lousada in Portugal, Renteria in Spain and Tulle in France.

The swimming gala took place on Saturday 24th May from 9a.m. to 6p.m.

From the heats through to the finals and the canon relay events it was full of excitement. Bury had a megaphone which the swimmers put to MAXIMUM use.

The chanting and singing from all the teams was magnificent.

B&E was represented by David Cahill who gained three medals. Certificates were also presented for year groups. David received First Place for 200m individual medley, First Place for 100m backstroke, Third Place for 100m breaststroke, Third Place for 100m freestyle, Third Place for 50m backstroke, Fourth Place for 50m breaststroke and alongside his team mates gained First Place for 8x50m individual medley mix.

The six national teams fielded 32 male swimmers with points ranging from 577 to 149. David gained 431 points and was rated 7th overall.

Each year we have the opportunity to experience a truly international sporting event. If the coaches approach you to invite your child to take part we can only advise one response …..YES…..
